Grammy-winning artist Sturgill Simpson is pioneering an innovative fusion of American rock and Japanese anime with his upcoming project "Sound & Fury," which Netflix will debut worldwide this autumn. The directorial team also encompasses Masaru Matsumoto from Grayscale Arts ("Starship Troopers: Traitors of Mars"), Michael Arias ("The Animatrix"), Henry Thurlow and Arthell Isom representing D'art Shtajio, plus Koji Morimoto ("Akira"). Shunsuke Ochiai holds the co-executive producer position.

Simpson produced the accompanying album, representing his first complete studio offering since his 2016 masterwork "A Sailor's Guide to Earth," which captured the "Best Country Album" Grammy and received an "Album of the Year" nomination at the 59th Grammy Awards ceremony.

This addition strengthens Netflix's expanding international animation portfolio, joining successful anime titles including "Devilman Crybaby," "Aggretsuko," and "Ultraman," alongside celebrated adult animation series "BoJack Horseman," "Big Mouth," "Disenchantment," and "Love, Death, and Robots," plus the feature "I Lost My Body" from director Jérémy Clapin and Xilam Animation.
